About

UWASNET was founded in 2000 by the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Water and Environment in partnership with Sector Development Partners.


Mission

To strengthen coordination and collaboration of Civil Society Organizations and other stakeholders in the Water and Environment Sector of Uganda. CSOs include social enterprises, development programs, the private sector, and NGOs in the sector.


Strategic Objectives

Coordinated CSOs voice to influence policy and practice within the Water and Sanitation sub-sector

UWASNET coordinates the voices of its members to influence policy and practice in the WASH and Environment sector. Through its coordination structures, UWASNET captures the voices of its members, empowers its members to articulate and hold duty bearers accountable to be responsive to affordable and sustainable WASH services to all Ugandans and also carry out research and analysis to target and influence key policy makers.

Enhanced learning and strategic synergies around key sector issues

Promoting learning and networking amongst members and strategic partners is key to generate evidence to help address sector bottlenecks. UWASNET coordination structures promote better working relationships to jointly scale up WASH accessibility and environmental conservation. It entails enhanced engagements amongst members and stakeholders for strong and effective networking, collaboration and building of synergies

Strengthened institutional capacity of UWASNET to effectively, efficiently and sustainably deliver its mandate

UWASNET aims at strengthening its human and financial capacity by delivering services to members efficiently and effectively, building appreciation for efficient service and triggering growth of its members.
