About

The UK Aid Network (UKAN) is a coalition of UK-based development NGOs working together to advocate for more and better aid. Members carry out joint policy, lobbying and advocacy work, mostly focusing on the UK's ODA policy and practice. Its remit also extends to the European and international levels through its engagement with the UK government on international issues, its participation in EU Aid Watch working groups (CONCORD) and the International Coordinating Group of civil society organisations working on Aid (Better Aid). UKAN works to promote increases in aid quantity, improvements in aid quality and more equitable aid relationships between partner countries. UKAN is an ActionAid UK hosted network.

UKAN Aims & Objectives:

    • To coordinate effective and coherent joint policy, lobbying and advocacy work on the key priority aid issues which UKAN has identified around UK and wider aid quantity and quality issues

    • To pool resources & share expertise on UK and wider aid volume and quality issues among the UKAN membership in order to make the case for more and better aid more effectively

    • To hold the UK government and other donors accountable to current and future commitments on aid volume and effectiveness

    • To present evidence of the impact of better aid/aid effectiveness & ‘dispel the myths’ about aid
