Welcoming newcomers. Strengthening communities.
Unbound Philanthropy is an independent private grantmaking foundation that invests in leaders and organizations in the US and UK working to build a vibrant, welcoming society and just immigration system.
We envision a just and vibrant society where we can all flourish; we uphold human dignity, value our diversity, and embrace our common humanity.
How we work
We make grants in the US and UK to organizations whose activities are strongly aligned with our mission, and which fit within our Strategic Plan priorities.
We take a collaborative and non-partisan approach in everything we do. We leverage funding available for grantees by working in partnership and collaboration with other funders.
Unbound Philanthropy’s founders believe our philanthropic role in creating social change is to take calculated risks, experiment, fill gaps strategically, and invest in learning along the way. These beliefs have strongly influenced Unbound Philanthropy’s approach, which is committed to supporting change for the long haul.
Unbound Philanthropy is a private grantmaking foundation formed in 2003. From 2003-2008, with a small grants budget, the Board made exploratory grants. In 2008, Unbound hired its first professional staff to develop programs, with an office in New York, to further our current mission. Between 2012 and 2014, Unbound increased its staff size, opened an office in London, and adopted a Strategic Plan for 2014-2018, and in 2019 we adopted a new Strategic Plan for 2019-2023.
