Unicaja Banco SA

Unicaja Banco is a Spanish bank with a proven trajectory of solvency and financial solidity. The Bank takes on the historic mantle from a wide range of savings banks from different geographic areas of Spain, some centuries old, and all with a long trajectory as lending institutions with a marked social character. On 1st December 2011, the savings bank Monte de Piedad y Caja de Ahorros de Ronda, Cádiz, Almería, Málaga, Antequera y Jaén (Unicaja) signed the deed of incorporation of its bank, for a perpetual term, by public deed granted on 1st December 2011, registered at the Business Registry of Malaga, at Volume 4952, Book 3859, Section 8, Sheet MA-111580, Folio 1, Inscription 1, and on the Special Register at the Bank of Spain under number 2103, to perform its financial activity directly, so the bank segregated its financial business from said bank, Unicaja Banco, S.A.U. (later Unicaja Banco, S.A.). On 31st October 2014, the General Meeting of Shareholders of Unicaja approved the transformation of the bank to a banking foundation, pursuant to the Savings Banks and Banking Foundations Act. On 30th June 2017, Unicaja Banco became a listed company, its shares being admitted to official listing on the Stock Markets of Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Valencia, and included in the Stock Exchange Interconnection System (S.I.B.E. or Continuous Market). Unicaja Banking Foundation is its main shareholder with a stake of 49.85% in the capital. By the inscription at the Business Registry of Madrid on 21st September 2018, it concluded the integration of Banco de Caja España de Inversiones, Salamanca y Soria, S.A. (EspañaDuero) in Unicaja Banco, a merger by absorption process commenced in March 2014. Unicaja Banco, with its seat in Malaga, has a clear leadership position in its original regions (Andalucia and Castilla y León), where it concentrates more than 80% of its commercial network, with local banking status. The Group only operates in Spain, being present in the majority of the country. It is distinguished by the high degree of in-depth presence and knowledge of the territories, by its involvement in prosperity, and by its bonds and identification with the population, due to its interest in identifying and inclusively and sustainably attending to the financial and social needs expressed by the inhabitants and the physical nearness its branch network provides. Unicaja Banco is characterised by its model of universal banking aimed at retail businesses, under the cautious management of its socially responsible commercial strategy and risk profile, that places innovation and digital transformation in a priority position, and it includes technology that improves service for the client and efficiency of the bank. It is now the seventh largest bank in Spanish in stock market capitalisation. Among the objectives of activity by the Unicaja Banco Group, there are generation of confidence and creation of long-term value for its shareholders and supporting all the economic sector that operate within its scope of action, either over the counter or virtually, placing the clientele at the centre of its commercial strategy, with a large, diversified, competitive portfolio of products and services that provides the clients value.
