The mission of the non-profit association UEFA is to support indigenous women in the process of their self-acceptance and their acceptance in all their dignity within society, by setting up community mechanisms for their social reintegration.
The Union for the Emancipation of Indigenous Women “UEFA” works for the establishment and building of a community in the DRC in which the marginalization of indigenous Pygmy women is significantly reduced through the promotion and protection of his civil and political, socio-economic, and cultural rights.
UEFA's objectives
- - Strengthen the capacities of groups or structures of pygmy women for their emancipation.
- - Support the socio-economic, legal, and cultural initiatives of indigenous women in Congo.
- - Fight against marginalization, social inequalities, and inferiority complexes of indigenous women.
- - Support initiatives for sustainable development and lightening of tasks undertaken by women.
- - Integrate indigenous women in the management and conservation of the environment.
- - Create a space of expression for indigenous women.
Outlook
The organization intends to intensify its actions in the field of:
- • Access to education for pygmy children and functional literacy for adults
- • Promotion of crafts to generate income and enhance the culture of people's indigenous pygmies.
- • Environmental protection and governance of natural resources.
- • Construction/support for health centers, professional and recreational centers for young people and women.
- • Advocacy for the acquisition of land by pygmies and for the definition of legislation to promote and protect the rights of pygmies.
