The UN Development Operations Coordination Office (UN DOCO) is the secretariat of the UNDG providing technical and advisory support to its members. It brings together the UN development system to promote change and innovation to deliver together on sustainable development.

DOCO works under the leadership of the UNDG Chair and guidance of the UNDG. The team provides field evidence to inform policy, facilitates the achievement of shared results, and promotes excellence in UN leadership and coordination.

DOCO performs three critical functions for the UNDG and the UN Resident Coordinator system:

  • Focused policy coordination and technical support to the global work of the UNDG;
  • Support to the Regional UNDG Teams and Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams; and
  • Gathering evidence and data as to what is happening in programme countries to feed into UNDG analytical work and decision-making.

DOCO staff have extensive expertise with UN country operations and all aspects of UN coordination, including strategic planning, development effectiveness, joint programming, business practice reform, joint funding, knowledge management, human rights mainstreaming, and coordination in crisis and transition settings.
