Present in Angola since 1977 in all its activities, UNDP has focused on improving the lives of the Angolan people, especially the poorest and most vulnerable, and ensuring a future that offers equality, dignity and opportunity for all, and also fostering commitment to the new Agenda 2030 to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS).

UNDP works in partnership with the Government of Angola, development partners, United Nations Agencies, Civil Society Organizations and local communities to help identify local solutions to meet global and national development challenges through a series of interventions which combine support through expertise and knowledge transfer and the comparative advantage of UNDP in the areas of Poverty Reduction, Democratic Governance, Gender, Human Rights, HIV / AIDS, Environment and Crisis Prevention and Recovery.

The UNDP Office in Angola is supporting the country in the graduation process of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) category, resuming the preparation of the national human development reports, as well as integrating the SDO into the National Development Plan and planning of the national budget, a process with broad participation and leadership of the Government of Angola and other national and international actors, civil society, academia, private sector, international cooperation and other institutions relevant to the process.
