About

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has been present in Niger since 1977. The basic agreement governing cooperation between the UNDP and the Republic of Niger was signed on May 2, 1977 by the Government. Under this agreement, and subject to the availability of funds, UNDP provides and makes available to the Government of Niger assistance in accordance with the relevant resolutions and decisions of its competent bodies.

The three-year program 2019-2021 , developed in consultation with the Government and national partners, including United Nations agencies, development partners and civil society organizations, represents UNDP's contribution to the United Nations Development Framework. Development Assistance (UNDAF) 2019-2021, which corresponds exactly to the end of the Economic and Social Development Plan 2017-2021.

It contributes to the development of Niger in two priority areas inseparable from the UNDAF: a) resilience; (b) governance, peace and security.

It is in line with the achievement of the African Union's Agenda 2063 and Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 10, 13, 15, 16 and 17 and supports the implementation of the UNDP strategic plan 2018-2021.
