UWC comprises schools and colleges in 17 countries and national committees and selection contacts in more than 155. The UWC movement also consists of more than 60,000 alumni and other members in virtually every country in the world. UWC International is governed by the International Board and UWC Council. The executive arm of the International Board is the International Office, based in London.
The international scope of the UWC movement is truly global.

UWC was founded in 1962 with UWC Atlantic College in south Wales opening that same year. The aim was to bring together young people from areas of post-war conflict to act as champions of peace through an education based on shared learning, collaboration and understanding.
