The Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana is a private, non-profit higher education institution. It was created in Honduras in 1985 with the purpose of becoming an alternative for university education, both for its innovative academic offering and for its educational proposal and model.
In 2005, the Technological University Center (CEUTEC) was founded, an educational option that implements the Blended Learning model for people who work and wish to study at a higher level, within a flexible schedule and a semi-presential modality.
That same year, UNITEC joined Laureate International Universities, expanding its global reach and resources. In 2020, Laureate Education transferred management of UNITEC to the Nasser Foundation, ensuring its continued commitment to educational excellence.
The institution currently has seven campuses: four in Tegucigalpa, two in San Pedro Sula and one in La Ceiba, which together house more than 30,000 enrolled students.
The Educational Model is student-centered and based on the integration of five key components: competency-based learning, a transformative faculty, a personalized university experience, modern learning spaces, and interaction with the work environment.
UNITEC plays an important role in higher education in Honduras, contributing to the development of trained human resources in different fields. The emphasis on academic innovation and commitment to the well-being of society are key aspects of its mission as an educational institution.
