The Clermont Auvergne University was created on January 1, 2017. This decision is the result of discussions initiated since 2012 on the structuring of the site and aims to make the most of the new framework established by the 2013 law on higher education and research. The stakes are high. While deliberately joining national and international networks for the production and dissemination of knowledge, the university participates in the Auvergne ecosystem alongside socio-economic players and local authorities; this new university must be the driving force behind the development of higher education and research in Auvergne at the service of users and all stakeholders in the territory, and further increase its quality, influence and attractiveness.
This creation is in fact fundamentally part of a new ambition which aims to ensure that the university performs its public service missions more effectively, to increase its presence and its influence at the territorial, national and international scales and to mobilize for these purposes all the resources, capacities and skills present in the two establishments at the service of students and society.
The optimization of educational, scientific, administrative and technical skills makes it possible to achieve this new ambition. It is about creating a new dynamic, attractive, responsible university, open to its social, economic and cultural environment, to its territories and to the world. She will be able to take full responsibility for the five major challenges facing their university community.
Relying on all areas of knowledge, the University of Clermont Auvergne intends to pursue an innovative policy in terms of initial and continuing training, research, professional integration of its students while playing a major role in the heart of the city and on the international scene.
