The Centre for Professional Development assists all University of Auckland staff to achieve the highest possible standards in key aspects of their work. To promote this achievement, we provide support and development programmes which cohere with the policies and priorities of the University of Auckland and the Treaty of Waitangi. Our aim is to add value across the institution by improving performance, promoting innovation and organizational learning. CPD seeks to achieve its mission by: - Providing professional and personal development opportunities for general and academic staff; - Promoting innovative and effective teaching and learning; - Engaging in critical scholarship related to higher education; - Advising, developing and supporting leaders and managers; - Helping to shape the University's policies to support and reward excellence in teaching, learning and research; - Promoting critical reflection on international, national and institutional issues and trends; - Liaising with appropriate groups to determine current needs and future directions; - Improving research productivity, including graduate research.

Founded in 1883, Auckland is the country’s largest university with over 40,000 students, nearly 10,000 of whom graduate annually. The main campus is in the heart of Auckland city and we have four specialist campuses.
