About

In response to the serious threats posed by climate change to the development process and the limitations that Tanzania and the rest of Africa face in accessing and generating detailed scientific research that is particular to Africa, the University of Dar es Salaam established the Centre for Climate Change Studies (CCCS), a semi-autonomous institution within the University of Dar es Salaam that deals with climate change research, training and education.

The Centre for Climate Change Studies is a fast-growing climate change training and research organization under the University of Dar es Salaam.

It carries out climate change-related research projects funded by international donors; offers a PhD and a Master’s program in Climate Change and Sustainable Development; offers short courses in Climate Change and Sustainable Development; and carries out outreach programs.

Mission

To promote high-quality climate change research, competent graduates, and outreach climate change programs that will enhance innovation and anticipated climate change impacts in the country and beyond.

Vision

To be a Centre of Excellency for capacity building and knowledge generation on climate change that informs policy and decision making at different levels.
