Veredas, Caminos Alternativos de Educación Ambiental, AC is a non-profit organization, founded in 2000, that seeks to make gender equality a vivid reality in Mexican society, promoting the equal participation of women and men in conservation and sustainable development of Mexico based on the exercise of human rights.
The environmental crisis is also part of a social and cultural crisis, which is why they work to achieve a more equitable society without discrimination.
The transition towards a more sustainable society demands solutions that recognize, on the one hand, the structural and functional peculiarities of ecosystems and, on the other, the social and cultural interweaving, the economic reality and the political context, as well as gender inequalities , ethnicity and social class.
Since their creation, they have focused on projects that are based on gender equality and its articulation with environmental conservation and sustainability, through advocacy in public policies, government programs, strengthening organized civil society and grassroots groups.
For this reason, they support the exercise of women's human and environmental rights, assuming the challenge of integrating social and cultural aspects, through multisectoral and multidisciplinary approaches, which emphasize the search for equity, social participation, non-discrimination and the sustainability
They also deal with awareness, training and environmental education seeking recognition and increase of knowledge that women and men, of all ages, ethnic and social origin, have in different areas and spaces for the appropriation of territories and the taking of decisions, promoting equality and social cohesion.
