An important milestone in the development of the coal industry is when Vietnam Coal Corporation was established under Decision No. 563 / TTg dated 10/10/1994 of the Prime Minister.

 With multidisciplinary business strategy on the basis of coal production, the Corporation has gradually removed difficulties, stagnated the subsidy period, built the right strategic goal for development. As a result, in 2005, the output of raw coal reached over 30 million tons, an increase of 2.7 times compared to 2000 and increased 5 times compared to 1994 (before establishing the Corporation). Total revenue in 2005 exceeded 20,000 billion VND (of which 68% was coal), the profit before tax exceeded 2,500 billion VND, the average income was over 3 million VND / person / month compared to 667,000 VND / month in 1995.
