Their Mission is to “invest capital and expertise in Village Companys that generate social impact in rural communities through profitable businesses".
In the developed world, new homes built is one of the key economic factors followed each month that helps inform business, political, and governmental leaders about the overall health of the economy.
Building homes and other structures employ a lot of people. From unskilled laborers who may be clearing a work site to the master builders, project managers, electricians, and plumbers who develop their skills over many years. And of course, the designers, architects, and engineers who ensure that the home is built in compliance with both safe practice and local laws and regulations. To ensure fair competition and maximum local economic benefits, their model works with 4 village companies who operate in a 'VC' cluster. Each VC operates a construction company and a construction materials company that specializes in 1 of 4 areas needed for the home building.
This is what they call the 'Village Company model".
Together, they have been working for several years with experts in business, as well as designers, builders, and architects from Europe in consultation with local builders, technicians, and people from the villages in Tanzania to design the first house - the Manyara House.
