VillageReach overview

VillageReach transforms health care delivery to reach everyone, so that each person has the health care needed to thrive. They develop solutions that improve equity and access to primary health care. This includes making sure products are available when and where they are needed and primary health care services are delivered to the most under-reached. They also practice radical collaboration with governments and the private sector to strengthen the ability to scale and sustain innovative solutions.

VillageReach increases access to quality health care for more than 35 million people across sub-Saharan Africa.

VillageReach approach

VillageReach seeks to minimize risk by collaborating with governments and their partners to develop solutions, evaluate those solutions and help to define the critical path to scale. Furthermore, they demonstrate the demand or need for a solution, define what it takes to implement those changes and illuminate costs and trade-offs.

The tenets of their approach include:

• Learn what people need from the health care system, building solutions that start at the last mile.
• Develop and evaluate solutions in a small set of core countries in sub-Saharan Africa where VillageReach has deep experience, relationships and a commitment to long-term presence; and they align solutions with government priorities, plans and policies.
• Scale proven solutions with governments in an efficient and sustainable way to integrate into the health system.
• Help sustain and manage the solutions over time by supporting government ownership.
• Replicate proven solutions into new geographies, develop an evidence base and advocate for global change.
