VARA (Voluntary Association for Rehabilitation of Afghanistan) is a humanitarian, non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian and non-governmental organization. It was formally founded on August 1990 within the country to participate in the process of relief, rehabilitation and development of the country. The other aim of the organization is the encouragement of the Afghan refugees to return to their homeland. VARA views itself as an active organization, which builds respect and trust via partnership in humanitarian activities. Throughout its existence, VARAhas made earnest efforts in pursuing and achieving its aims and objectives. VARA is thoroughly dedicated to humanitarian activities. VARA is rendering services in all over Afghanistan especially the S/W region of Afghanistan with a staff of nearly 300 persons. Tens of thousands of people have benefited directly or indirectly from VARA’s projects.VARA is an active member of SWABAC (Southern Western Afghanistan and Baluchistan Association for Coordination), The association is registered with UNOCA in October 10th 1991, and has received a "NOC" from the commissioner of Afghan refugees of the government of Baluchistan. VARA main office is located in Kandahar city with sub-offices in Helmand, Farah, Nimroz, Herat, Zabul provinces of Afghanistan and a contact office in Quetta Pakistan.
