Wanel-Edon Development Association popularly called WANEL-EDON was formed in 2013 by the women and girls of Edondon town in Obubra LGA to address women’s rights abuses, marginalization in governance, poverty, illiteracy and widowhoods rites/ denial of women rights to own land and property of deceased husbands.

WANEL-EDON is a women’s led organization. The goals of Wanel-Edon is: Expand the quality and quantity of supports for women rights; Empower women and girls and bridge gender inequality.

Mission: "The women and girls working together to achieve sustainable development at the local level for selves".

Currently, Waneledon has 2,830 members and target groups are voiceless and poor women and girls of target communities of Edondon, Okokori, Old Ekuri, New Ekuri, Iko Esai, Owai, Ekuri Eyeyeng
