Westinghouse Sweden operates in three Product Lines: Nuclear Fuel, Nuclear Services and Nuclear Automation. Westinghouse Sweden has more than 1000 employees and is responsible for the Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) technology within each Business Unit. The company has built nine nuclear power plants in Sweden and two in Finland, based on its own, independent design. Westinghouse Sweden is today a supplier of nuclear fuel and components, plant upgrades including nuclear automation, as well as nuclear services in Europe, the USA and Asia.

Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel is a single-source fuel provider for pressurized water reactors (PWRs), boiling water reactors (BWRs), VVERs and advanced gas-cooled reactors (AGRs) worldwide

 

A vital part of Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel is the Westinghouse Sweden Nuclear Fuel Factory, situated in Västerås, Sweden. The Fuel Factory manufactures fuel assemblies for PWRs and BWRs, and fuel channels and control rods for BWRs.

Nuclear Fuel (Sweden Operations, BWR and PWR Fuel Products and Fuel Engineering) in Västerås is responsible for the entire chain from research and development to manufacturing of nuclear fuel for Boiling Water Reactors and Pressurized Water Reactors, as well as control rods and fuel channels for BWR plants including codes for core surveillance.

Westinghouse Sweden has been manufacturing fuel since the mid-1960s. The present fuel factory has been in operation since 1971, and has continuously been expanded and modernized. Systems, processes and equipment, both for fabrication and inspection are largely of Westinghouse Sweden design, and are highly mechanized and automated.

Nuclear Services is supporting customers on the BWR markets in Europe, the USA and Asia. Nuclear Services is a complete supplier of both engineering services and field services with almost 400 employees in Västerås. Nuclear Services provides full service undertakings and edge technology products within outage services, repair and investigations, analysis, modernizations and licensing work. Within Automation Services we deliver automation projects for nuclear plants on the Nordic market.
