Witteveen+Bos is a company based in the Netherlands that provides consultancy and engineering services in the fields of infrastructure, water, the environment, spatial development and construction. Our multidisciplinary approach to projects is the distinctive feature of the way we work. Our clients are governmental, commercial and industrial organisations, including various types of joint ventures and public-private partnerschips. We serve our clients from eight offices in the Netherlands and eight international offices.
Internationally, Witteveen+Bos has achieved a good position in the following areas:
Active abroad
We conduct a selective policy on the geographical areas that we serve. Besides operating in nearby countries (like Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom) we have been active for more than 25 years in Indonesia and in the Caribbean. Witteveen+Bos maintains an office in Jakarta. We additionally have offices in Aktau, Atyrau and Almaty (Kazakhstan), Riga (Latvia) and St. Petersburg (Russia). In the Caribbean we cooperate very closely with Civil Engineering Caribbean (CEC), a company with offices on Curaçao, Aruba and St. Maarten. Since 1990 there has been a great demand in central and eastern Europe for the kind of engineering expertise and know-how that we provide. Over the past two decades we have been involved in projects in numerous central and eastern European countries. In 2009 we opened our Belgian office in Antwerp.
SEEN
Together with engineering firms NIRAS (Denmark), Artelia (formerly Sogreah, France) and Tyréns (Sweden), Witteveen+Bos is a member of the Strategic European Expertise Network (SEEN). These independent firms rank are among the top in their respective countries – not in size, but in quality and in service. We exchange knowledge with each other via knowledge clusters in which we discuss interesting engineering developments and make them available for the members’ domestic markets. The firms also jointly develop new products and services and cooperate with each other in various projects in Eastern Europe, Africa and China.

Area of expertise
>> Water
|
We are active in the specialised fields described below.
|
>> Infrastructure
|
For Witteveen+Bos success stems equally from developing scenarios for orchestrating alteration of the Eindhoven ring road as from building the western orbital motorway around Amsterdam or using relatively simple means to build a tram line in Bucharest.
|
>> Environment |
Sustainable development necessitates interaction between the spatial development and environmental disciplines. Witteveen+Bos’s specialists in spatial development and environmental issues make a pivotal contribution through their ability and willingness to look beyond the fences of their own domains. From this baseline our experts have helped to complete numerous projects in the Netherlands and other countries. Our activities range from working in distinct fields to assuming integral responsibility, but without losing sight of interfaces with other disciplines. Our overarching approach produces numerous benefits through close cooperation between experts from different parts of our firm.
|
>> Construction
|
Witteveen+Bos can guide these developments from the requirement analysis phase to implementation. We do so by combining our extensive knowledge in project and process management with financial and technical expertise, as well by combining our substantial knowledge of urban areas with that of buildings. Through this, we can create a pleasant and sustainable living and working environment on both the macro and micro level, now and in the future.
