About

Women’s Initiatives Supporting Group (WISG) is a feminist organization working on women’s rights. The organization uses women’s empowerment as a tool to reach its main goal – support formation of a harmonious, equality-based society in which all the women will have access to full and equal participation in social, political, cultural and economic life.

The main target groups of the organization are lesbian, bisexual women and transgender persons, rural women, women with disabilities and women representing other vulnerable groups.

In order to achieve the abovementioned goal, WISG conducts work in following directions:

  • Supporting women’s empowerment both on personal and interpersonal level;
  • Ensuring equal opportunities and rights for women via lobbying and advocacy;
  • Popularizing feminist views, rights of women and other vulnerable groups and instilling respect towards them in the society.

WISG is a member of several local and international networks: Eastern Partnership Civil Society national platform of Georgia, AWID (an international association working on women’s rights), ILGA-Europe (an organization uniting LGBTQI groups in Europe), IGLYO (international gay and lesbian youth organization), TGEU (organization working on the rights of transgender and intersex persons, which also has its network.)
