Vietnam is located in the Greater Mekong Subregion, which is considered to be one of the highest biodiversity areas in the world. This biodiversity supports the livelihoods of tens of millions of people in Southeast Asian countries. WWF-Vietnam was founded with the mission of preserving the region's biodiversity and building a sustainable development future for its people.
About 16% of the world's known plant and animal species are distributed in Vietnam, along with diverse ecological landscapes, including majestic mountains, rainforests, mangroves, dry forests, coastal and marine areas, and an intricate system of rivers. These habitats are listed in a list of 200 ecoregions that need global conservation priority for future generations.
However, many species are threatened or at risk of extinction due to many reasons including habitat degradation and degradation, unreasonable infrastructure development, climate change, agriculture. unsustainable karma and illegal hunting. Therefore, education on conservation, policy changes and cooperation with businesses and the community are very necessary solutions.
