The Zelena Energetska Zadruga was established in 2013 as part of the project "Development of Energy Cooperatives in Croatia" implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Croatia. Upon completion of the project, ZEZ continues to operate independently.
Today, ZEZ is the umbrella organization for the field of energy cooperatives in Croatia and the region, participates in the establishment and provides support to other energy cooperatives. ZEZ is an active member of REScoop.eu, the European Federation of Energy Cooperatives and Terra Hub, a sister association derived from UNDP Croatia. ZEZ is one of the co-founders and co-founder of the energy section of the Cooperative for Ethical Financing (ZEF). Also, as members of the Energy Community, they coordinate the work of the technical group for the involvement of citizens in the development of renewable energy sources.
The mission of ZEZ is to help citizens in the development, investment and use of renewable energy sources. Our goal is to achieve real changes in the development of energy and the involvement of citizens in the process of energy transition. They want to enable citizens to participate in planning, decision-making, construction and energy production, and to participate in the distribution of profits. Through our activities, they encourage the development of social entrepreneurship in the energy sector, they influence the equality of society and the preservation of the environment. They develop concrete and sustainable solutions that enhance the development of your local community.
