HISTORY
Women and development issues have always been topical issues. In Burkina Faso, women constitute more than 52% of the population. Although they are numerous, they nevertheless remain marginalized. Indeed, socio-cultural factors weigh heavily on them. Young girls remain victims of early and / or forced marriages. Their rights are regularly violated. Their schedule is overloaded. They are the first to get up and the last to go to bed. During their day, they take care of their many children, they cook, they fetch water from the well and wood in the bush, they work first in their husband's field and then in their own field. It should also be noted that women are undereducated and lack professional training.
In view of these difficult conditions, a group of women, under the initiative of Mariam Maïga, mobilized to improve the precarious status of women. This is how the Association Zoodo pour la Promotion de la Femme (AZPF) was created in September 1996. On March 17, 1997, the AZPF was officially recognized by the authorities of Burkina Faso. It is an apolitical, non-denominational and non-profit association. Its executive headquarters are located in Ouahigouya in sector 10, and its head office in Ouagadougou. The main motivation for the creation of AZPF was the strong desire to contribute effectively to the promotion of rural communities and the development of Burkina Faso.
