BIO Rosa da Costa is a Human Rights lawyer with field experience and expertise on a range of human rights issues. These include refugee law and internal displacement, women's rights, administration of justice, integration, humanitarian law and children's rights. She has worked with several UN agencies including UNHCR in different capacities in Canada, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Switzerland, as well as other countries during emergencies. From 2008 to 2015, she was a Human Rights Officer with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva, where she worked on issues of violence against women, internal displacement and modern forms of slavery. In that context she participated in various country visits to assess the situation in the country (e.g. Iraq, Sudan, Cote d'Ivoire, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Maldives, Ghana). She has also worked with the Office of the Representative of Children in Armed Conflict.
