Adnan Ansari

Adnan Ansari has two decades of experience in executive and technical advisory services in new/emerging markets, strategic planning, product development, program design and implementation, operations and management of corporations, non-profits, complex projects and multi-year programs. His recent experience focused on financial sector development and economic growth with technical advisory roles as well as multiple stakeholder partnership management positions. He has innovative finance experience in several countries in agricultural financing, SME lending, mortgage banking, affordable housing lending and most recently climate financing. Some of the relevant experience ranges from developing agricultural lending mechanisms for financial institutions in Pakistan and Philippines, scaling up sustainable credit products for renewable energy products in rural areas of East African countries, building central bank capacity for mortgage financing in Tanzania, Pakistan and Afghanistan and policy level advisory services for promoting the use of weather index insurance in Ethiopia and Philippines. He has recently been involved in the market mapping, product development and product roll-out of a fund accelerating the use of energy efficiency credit products offered to small, minority-owned businesses in USA. He has served in executive management positions in the establishment and growth of several financial institutions in USA, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Within the corporate structures as well as in partnerships with other financial institutions, he coordinated the roll out of new financial products and market growth of existing products via multiple origination channels in varying market environments, reaching cumulative sales as high as USD 1 billion. Over the years, he has held key positions in projects funded by USAID, USDA, World Bank, IFC, ADB, AfDB and several foundations, related to SME development and finance, agricultural value chain, climate adaptation finance, mortgage, housing microfinance and leasing finance. His international experience includes work on the ground, in fragile states and post-conflict environments in East Africa, South/South-east Asia and MENA regions. He has worked on local capacity building, and reconstruction of economies in regions recovering from social uprisings, recurring conflict or experiencing ongoing insurgencies. Adnan has graduate level education (MS and MBA) in International Agriculture Development, Institutional Economics, Finance and Marketing and has native proficiency in Urdu with working knowledge of Arabic.
