Dr. Andrew Taber is experienced in leading biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, capacity building, and policy strengthening initiatives around the world. He currently heads an international NGO working in remote mountain regions to protect the environment, build climate change resilience, improve local livelihoods, and sustain indigenous cultures. He has overseen forestry programs in climate change mitigation and adaptation, sustainable forest management, and impacts of international trade and investment. Accomplishments include guiding the creation of globally important protected areas and private reserve networks. He is a scientific authority on Neotropical wildlife, ecosystems, and landscapes with experience spanning terrestrial and marine systems. Dr. Taber has broad skills in natural resource management, particularly in consort with native peoples; and has worked with local and national governments, as well as international agencies and processes, to improve environmental and development policy. His leadership, administrative, and fundraising experience spans non-governmental and international research organizations. He has managed grant programs and innovative finance initiatives with the private sector. Dr. Taber has trained and mentored conservation and development practitioners, researchers, and students; and bolstered and learned from indigenous leaders and holders of traditional knowledge.
