Angela Gichaga

Global health specialist with 10+ years experience working across civil service, management consulting, NGO’s and academia while implementing projects for development partners such as USAID, DFID, UN agencies and Bill and Melinda Fates Foundation. I have been humbled to learn from and share my knowledge and skills in Australia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Togo, Uganda and Zambia. I have technical and supervisory experience working in fragile, post conflict states across fields such as health (maternal and child health, supply chain management, community health) and public sector leadership. I have a passion for youth and gender equity which I pursue on a volunteer basis. Highlights of selected achievements include designing a holistic national health system that would help save the lives of 600 women and 5000 children, 30% improved efficiency in a national supply chain transport and storage system, CBET curricula development to upskill 30,000 youth with 75% job placement rate, implementing an innovative financing solution to plug US$14-18 billion energy sector funding gap and doubling of health facility income over 2 years. I was humbled to be named one of Fortune's World's Greatest Leaders (2018) and to receive the Australian Leadership Awards for Africa (2012) and the Young African Leadership Initiative - Mandela Washington Fellowship (2014) in recognition of my exemplary health leadership and management skills within and/or working with the civil service. As a Public and Social Sector Associate in McKinsey & Company, I have supported the improved efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery within several African governments and social sector organizations, through exposing them to best in class practices, streamlining strategies and transformational delivery which is inclusive, solutions driven and result focused in a politically savvy way for lasting impact.
