Over 10 years of practical economic and human development (including poverty alleviation) experience in West, East and Southern Africa (including Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana), coupled with Kiswahili language experience and a detailed knowledge of the country and its institutions;
My cultural understanding of the diverse and varied global contexts within which DFID works, its dynamics and years of technical experience working with Governments, Civil Society and multilateral/bilateral agencies as well as the increasing number of private sector actors worldwide. This has been developed through over 20 years of long and short term assignments and in-country presence in over 30 nations, working with over 70 cultures in many languages;
My abilities in working directly with a number of cultures present in key African regions where the project will have a presence, and the ability to gain trust and credibility with the cultural and language groups within where the DFID initiative has strategically decided to lever change with local partners;
My strong track record and professional reputation working with Governments, NGOs and media as well as the private sector throughout Africa;
My ability to negotiate seamlessly with key individuals at senior posts, from government Ministers, to Industrialists as well as Civic leaders. I bring extensive experience of working with senior level Ministers and Diplomats and am able to broker and facilitate discussions at a very senior level;
