An anthropologist with extensive experience in international development, my expertise is in Thailand and Burma in the areas of politics and culture, gender and development, and oral history. I have run capacity building courses focusing on political empowerment, national reconciliation, and related skills. I developed an oral history project exploring development priorities in Burma. I am the author of Living Silence in Burma: Surviving under Military Rule (Zed Books, 2009).
