Dr Faheem Abbasi

Dr. Abbasi is a thorough professional with more than 16 years’ experience in development sector working with Government Departments, USAID, Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank, other donor funded programs, and worked with several U.S.-based organizations. He has overseen multidisciplinary teams and has demonstrated outstanding leadership and technical expertise in program designing and implementation. His career trajectory has included designing, managing, and providing technical expertise to large-scale development programs while directly collaborating with donors and government stakeholders and engaging the private sector. Dr. Abbasi has held several senior management and technical positions, including Country Representative, Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, Deputy Project Director, Policy Advisor, Education Planner, Provincial Coordinator, and Country Program Manager. Throughout professional career, Dr. Abbasi’s deep rooted understanding, his close working relationships with the donors, Government Departments, private sector and a multitude of other ministries and government officials, arms Dr. Abbasi with the necessary skills to lead an impactful, sustainable program. Dr. Abbasi is well-acquainted with the entire contract award cycle and has many years of oversight experience—ranging from leading, facilitating project design and start-up, to managing program implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. Dr. Abbasi has planned and executed large-scale programs in policy, livelihood, Emergency, skills development, education, safe drinking water, energy, agriculture, socio-cultural preservation, and public affairs. Dr. Abbasi has very good knowledge about the structures and policies of key world donors, multilaterals global funds, academic institutions, and foundation working in the development sector and is well versed about their approaches. During his jobs, he interacted with many international agencies, donors and government departments, universities which provided him opportunities to understand the global context of development including their structures and engagements to achieve the global commitments. Currently, Dr. Abbasi serves as CNFA’s Country Representative for Pakistan.
