Summary

I’m a forward-thinking public health leader committed to enabling positive, lasting change and improving healthcare access throughout Africa. My career spans 20+ years of distinct, diverse experience, from treating patients as Medical Officer for the Ministry of Health to leading large-scale, high-impact health programmes as Country Director of Amref (Kenya). A true strategist, I excel at aligning organisational goals/mission with strategic plans, including building and developing top-tier teams with clearly defined targets. Optimising performance is central to my work, and I’m known for establishing robust governance structures, revitalising operations, introducing best practices, and increasing organisational visibility. As an advocate for the advancement and development of Africa, I’ve authored published works to shed light on health issues, co-founded a Pan-African coach platform (Coach Links), and released a book (Career Choice) to inspire Africa's youth to build meaningful, high-impact careers. I’m currently scheduled to release an influential publication every one to two years. **HIGHLIGHTS** ➺ Strengthened governance (Organisational Board) for Amref Kenya, enabling significant growth and increasing the annual budget from ~USD$30M to USD$60M+ over six years. Partnered with the Board to improve cohesion, co-created a charter to ensure formative guidance on key issues, and established a governance structure to achieve financial viability. ➺ Positioned Amref Kenya to receive USD$300M+ in funds while maintaining country-level overhead at ~5% and ensuring the allocation of ~USD$2M annually to HQ to transform health across Africa. Instilled fundraising as a “team sport,” won several proposals, hired/coached talent, and leveraged networking skills to secure funds from diverse donors, such as USAID, CDC, Global Fund, CIFF, BMGF, and EU. ➺ Optimised Amref’s project oversight and mitigated risk on USD$15M+ annually in sub-grants (to sub-recipients) after developing an Integrated Programme Performance Monitoring framework to manage a portfolio of 30+ projects with a USD$200M+ multi-year budget, 500+ staff, and 50+ sub-recipient organisations.
