Rohit is a Doctor of Public Health with expertise in global health, implementation science and epidemiology. His work focuses on strengthening health systems and improving access to essential products and services in low- and middle-income countries, using human-centered design approaches and the development of multi-sectoral partnerships. He has worked all over the world designing, implementing, evaluating and scaling up affordable and sustainable public health solutions. With the goal of bringing greater balance to this world, he is passionate about pioneering innovative development solutions through multi-disciplinary collaborations. Currently, his work is focused on the role of psychedelics for global mental health. Rohit is the Founder & CEO of Antara Global Health Advisors, a Canadian global health advisory firm that provides technical expertise and evidence-based public health and management advice to organizations around the world. He is the Principal Investigator and Public Health Advisor at ColaLife, a globally renowned social enterprise focused on improving access to essential medicines like ORS & Zinc for childhood diarrhea through market shaping and emulating the private sector value chains of fast-moving consumer goods like Coca-Cola. His work has been highlighted on CBC, BBC, Business Week, Development Asia Magazine, TED and received a Transformational Business Award in Health from the Financial Times and IFC. He is also a recipient of a Grand Challenges Canada Rising Stars in Global Health award and a member of the UN Innovation Working Group. After completing an internship with the WHO in India, he launched his career in management consulting with Accenture’s Healthcare and Life Sciences practice, advising Fortune 500 companies, ministries of health and hospital networks. Following that, he served as a Senior Health Advisor at the Canadian International Development Agency (now Global Affairs Canada) working on key multilateral initiatives. This included advising on investments in global health such as Canada’s G8 Maternal & Child Health Initiative (Muskoka Initiative) and representing the Global Fund constituency of Canada, Germany and Switzerland on the Affordable Medicines Facility – malaria (AMFm). Rohit is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Waterloo School of Public Health and Health Systems. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Jane Goodall Institute and on the Advisory Board of Raising the Village. He is also an Alumnus of the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference. He has lived across Canada and in the United States and has worked in Africa, the Caribbean and South and Central Asia. He holds a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, a Masters of Public Health (MPH) from Boston University and a BSc in Health Studies & Gerontology from the University of Waterloo.
