Edward Kitonsa

Edward is a highly motivated individual with 13 years of work experience in regional integration programs, legal reform, investment climate reform work and a track record of success working within the East African Community. Through several assignments at the Uganda Law Reform Commission, Kampala Capital City Authority, Uganda National Roads Authority, World Bank, International Finance Corporation, and now at the East Africa Trade & Investment Hub Edward has led and implemented particular interventions covering regulatory reform, trade and investment projects. These include supporting the Ugandan Government to modernize and reform various commercial laws through the process of harmonization and approximation of laws to the EAC Common Market Protocol; leading the development of the Goods Chapter of the EAC Common Market Scorecard 2014 and the update of the same Chapter in the 2016 edition of the Scorecard, an advisory project requested by the EAC Secretary General; and support to World Bank Group Competition Policy Team in leading the data collection process using the OECD Regulatory Questionnaire to estimate Product Market Regulation Indicators for both Kenya and Rwanda, as well as in providing advisory services to Competition Authority of Kenya and the Agriculture Fisheries & Food Authority. His work has seen him receive several accolades including Employee of the year Award-Directorate of Legal Affairs at Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) for excellent performance and leading the preparation of the critical Regulations to operationalize the UNRA Act, as part of the EAC Common Market Scorecard team - the International Finance Corporation’s Knowbel Award for Excellence, and World Bank Group Africa Vice President Unit Award for excellence in preparing quick response solutions to the rapidly emerging local and global challenges.
