Emily Brown (She / Her)

Emily B. Brown is an international development consultant and gender equality and inclusion expert with 16 years of experience. Currently, Emily is the founder and principal of EBB Tide International Consulting LLC where she works with international NGOs and donors to provide strategic advice and technical assistance. She has expertise in business development, gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) analysis and action planning, technical training, project-level technical assistance, developing guidelines and toolkits, and organizational gender and equity audits. Emily developed and leads a training on gender and inclusion integration in proposal processes on the Cynara Gender Training Platform, which was featured in a July 2023 Devex article, and has trained 65 international development practitioners in eight countries. She has supported dozens of proposals up to US $200 million across a range of sectors, including health, education, agriculture, food security, civil society and governance, women’s economic empowerment, adolescents and youth, and more. Emily has led and conducted seven GESI analyses/assessments and co-led and contributed to at least six more in multiple countries, including a country-level USAID gender assessment. She has also applied GESI analysis results to develop several project-level GESI strategies and action plans. Emily has a Master’s in International Development from the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs. Before a career in international development, she worked in U.S. politics, including with the U.S. House of Representatives Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the political action committee EMILY’s List, and the U.S. Department of Justice.
