Summary

• Most recent experience in PNG working with volunteers and national consultants as the Education Programme Manager for VSO supporting the PNG Government to institutionalise Elementary Teacher Training. This support has also included contributing directly to the development of the pre-service elementary teacher training curriculum for the subject of English. • Work with GPE-VNEN (Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and World Bank (WB) focused mainly on review and development of primary teacher and student learning materials and pre-service teacher training materials; Also include: inputs into the development of in service training programs and materials for training at central, district and school levels. * Experience in Vietnam has also included development of Manuals for School Managers in schools transitioning to Full Day Schooling ( FDS), including development of pedagogical guidelines for FDS curriculum ; development of strategies for improving community involvement in schools and building capacity of national consultants to assess time in task in classrooms;. * Other work in Vietnam includes teacher training programs through TOT approach at district level and also the development of Teacher Resource Materials to facilitate application of active approaches to the teaching and learning of language and maths in the early years. * Has undertaken a wide range of consultancies as a primary education specialist in the Pacific ( PNG), South East Asia( Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos) and the middle east ( Qatar) working for INGO's ( Save the Children, PLAN International, Childfund, Room to Read) and Bilateral donor agencies ( AusAID, DfID GIZ, NZODA, BTC) and World Bank. Key focus areas - teacher training, evaluating classroom practice and development of teaching/learning resources. * Experience working with Government Education Departments at all levels - district to ministry, and capacity building with education officers responsible for in-service teacher training in primary schools, (Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos). * Considerable experience building capacity of national colleagues in teacher training institutions specifically to improve development of training courses and training materials ;( Papua New Guinea Institute of Education). Mentoring of curriculum officers developing materials to support new curriculum- including the development of materials for bridging year at primary school where students moved from learning in vernacular to English. * Experience working with children's book publishing in a number of developing countries and editing experience with international publisher ( Longman Publishing( Pearson Education ) * Advanced Skills Primary Classroom Teacher - early literacy specialist and experience as an In-service teacher trainer - early literacy course, for Australian primary teachers. ( 6 years) * Considerable experience in Australia with strengthening parent/community involvement in schools particularly with schools in disadvantaged communities;
