George Managadze

Mr. George Managadze brings over 15 years of experience managing all aspects of development programs, where he ensures excellent implementation, financial compliance, and transparency according to donor regulations and develops positive and productive relationships with beneficiaries, supporting their growth and success. In his role as the Chief of Party for the Georgia Hazelnut Improvement Project, Mr. Managadze oversaw implementation, monitoring, and reporting for the $7.3 million Global Development Alliance between USAID and Ferrero group focused on accelerating the growth of Georgia’s hazelnut sector. The program has established 8 Husking-Drying-Storage centers in cooperation with the Rural Development Agency and private companies that have reached more than 3,000 farmers and generated more than $8 million in new sales. As COP, Mr. Managadze has also identified and established partnerships with private companies to ensure effective engagement of the private sector in program activities and leverage more than $3 million in private sector investment to benefit Georgia’s agriculture sector. Together with the private sector, the program has piloted the hazelnut traceability system and in collaboration with one of the leading banks in Georgia, has introduced first-in-Georgia the warehouse receipt system for smallholder hazelnut producers. In his previous position as the Director of the Rural and Agricultural Development Fund, Mr. Managadze oversaw more than $180 million in grants and concessional credit funds focused on enhancing the productivity and capacity of over 400,000 farmers and more than 100 enterprises through a market systems and food system development approach. Across all roles, Mr. Managadze has ensured that the programs focus on gender equality, women and youth empowerment, climate-smart agriculture, and technology adoption in all agriculture system activities.
