Summary

Godwin a Public Health Physician and Fellow of Ghana College of Physicians with over 30 years’ experience in health systems strengthening, operations research, and the monitoring and evaluation of health programmes in Nigeria and Ghana. Godwin was responsible for providing strategic, advisory and technical support in Health Systems Research issues across the four PRRINN MNCH programme states in northern Nigeria. Dr Afenyadu provided and coordinated technical support to the state Operations Research teams in the areas of health systems capacity development, health and demographic surveillance site development, and facilitating the use of implementation research to improve the quality and access to MNCH services in the project states. Earlier, he worked with the Ghana Health Service as a Head of Monitoring and Evaluation of Policy Planning and Evaluation Directorate (2008-2009), D/Director of Public Health in the Western Region of Ghana and as a Child Health Specialist for UNICEF, (2007-2008). As the Disease Control and Community Health Specialist of the Liverpool Associated in Tropical Health (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine), he provided Technical Assistance in the area of priority health Interventions, including Malaria Control to the Partnership for Transforming Health Systems 1 (PATHS 1) Programme as the Project Technical Adviser (2004-2007) in Nigeria. Godwin was a Senior Lecturer (non salaried), Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University NY (2014-2019), and until recently Health Systems Research Manager for the Women For Health Project in Kano, Nigeria, and Senior Capacity development Advisor (USAID/Evaluate for Health)
