Summary

Herrick (Rick) Fox is a forester, international development specialist and former government executive with thirty years of experience building resilient value chains in climate-smart agriculture and forestry, including 15 years in senior policy and management with USDA Forest Service and Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), 10 years with USAID-funded programs in the former Soviet Union, and for the last 5 years as co-founder of a hemp company in Vermont and policy committee chair for two industrial hemp trade associations. He is also currently engaged in a USDA-funded project to support industrial hemp value chains in Ukraine and Eastern EU states. Rick’s academic and professional expertise encompasses forestry, climate resilience, public policy, land conservation, international development, food security and agricultural trade. In addition to his native English he is professionally fluent in Russian, aspiring to be fluent in Ukrainian, and more or less conversational in German and some other languages. A lifelong skier and hiker, Rick now hones his gravity management skills in the northern Vermont highlands with his wife and their three kids, especially while chucking hemp.
