As lead for innovation for the CIMMYT's Sustainable Agri-food System program, I support the elaboration of strategies in the transitions towards functional agri-food systems, through the implementation of needs-driven innovations for agricultural sustainability and appropriate scaling efforts. More so, a mechanization specialist for both CIMMYT and FAO, I approach agricultural mechanization issues in developing nations with a focus on machine innovation covering low-tech solutions to precision agriculture applications, and with the objective to increase access to and availability of tailor-made farm equipment, able to respond to increasing farm labour pressure in rural communities, need for resource use efficiency and reduced on-farm drudgery. Academically trained as an agricultural engineer specialized in agriculture for tropical and subtropical regions, and with a doctorate in crop growth modeling, I enjoy multidisciplinary work where science can connect with real-world context.
