John Dorland

JOHN DORLAND is the founding and Managing Principal of Dorland & Associates, an international management consulting firm. He has been in management with and as an advisor to domestic and international corporations on five continents, with primary responsibilities to lead, revitalize, troubleshoot, restructure, and turnaround multi-disciplined and emerging enterprises. A hands-on business strategist, leader, change manager and problem solver, he has been the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer of a diversified multi-billion dollar, multi-state financial services corporation; President/CEO of two multi-hundred million dollar regional financial services companies; Principal with a major (top 10) international consulting firm; Chief Operating Officer of a medical services management company; and principal advisor to financial services, business, governmental and NGO organizations in the U.S., Jordan, Yemen, Lebanon, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Russia, Romania, Republic of Srpska (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakstan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Nicaragua, Columbia and Venezuela. A specialist in strategic planning, financial management, capital investments, leadership and organizational development, change management, value chain analysis and design, crisis management, capacity building, and corporate governance, John has been a principal instructor at the Azerbaijan Bank Training Center; Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences; Association of Banks in Jordan; Republic of Georgia Banking-Finance Academy; Romanian Bank Institute; Moldovan Private Sector Development Initiative; Russian Federation State University; Bangladesh Regional Economic Assistance Program (REAP); Centre d’Affaires de Tatouine; Moroccan Institut Supérieur de la Magistrature; Fondation Marocaine pour L’Education Financiere; United States Military Academy; University of Southern Mississippi; Belmont University; and U.S. banking and leadership institutes and international forums. Domestically, he continues to assist emerging businesses as a Certified SCORE/SBA mentor and workshop leader. John has an Engineering degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, as well as a M.B.A. and a M.S. in Political Science/International Relations. A graduate of the U.S. Army’s Ranger, Airborne and Command & General Staff schools, he was a highly decorated Combat Airborne Infantry Commander, serving two years in Vietnam, and attaining the rank of full Colonel in the Army of the United States. He is listed in Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World. He is co-author of Duty, Honor, Company - West Point Fundamentals for Business Success, a pragmatic application of leadership skills learned at the United States Military Academy to today's business world, which has also been translated and published in Chinese.
