Joshua L.

Over the last sixteen years, I have worked at the interdisciplinary intersection of biology, medicine, and social policy. As a historian and teacher, I mapped the professional landscape of 20th century psychobiology, the sciences of sexual behavior and male-female sex differences, and explored the ways in which the financing of biomedicine shapes the trajectory of research schools and the decisions of policy makers. As an educator, research project manager, and public health policy advisor in the United Republic of Tanzania, I have lived and worked in five different regions, residing in remote villages, peri-urban municipalities, and the commercial capital. In cooperation with bilateral and multilateral development partners, national, regional, and local government authorities, I have worked in the technical areas of HIV, TB, malaria, trachoma, diarrhea, respiratory infections, reproductive and child health, health care financing, and health information systems.
