Kumayl Alloo is a Tanzanian-American qari (reciter of the Qur'an) and neuroscience researcher. A three-time National Champion and World Champion reciter, his achievements in numerous Qur'an competitions— coupled with his unique and melodious qira'at (styles of recitation)—have garnered both national and international acclaim. Alloois currently a research scholar at Columbia University and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. His academic interests span cognitive neuroscience, neurodegeneration, clinical medicine, Islamic theology, and linguistics.
