Marc Goldman

United States Magistrate Judge (Retired)

LawyerWayne State University Law School

United States

Summary

I retired in April 2013 after serving 30 years as a United States Magistrate Judge in the Eastern District of Michigan and the Central District of California. I have extensive experience in a variety of substantive areas of the law, as well as in litigation skills, ADR, and court administration. As a practitioner, I served as a state public defender and assistant United States Attorney. I also was a full time clinical law professor for four years in the 1970s. I have taught trial advocacy for more than 25 years as an adjunct professor and with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy for the past 20 years. I am currently serving as a lecturer at University of California, Berkeley, Law School and Golden Gate University Law School, teaching Trial Advocacy and a survey course in ADR.

I have long held an interest in working with individuals in countries undergoing transformation of legal systems to assist them in developing judicial and lawyering skills. My experience as a litigator, judge and educator would hopefully be useful in developing programs to promote legal reform.
