Masuma Mamdani

A committed and talented public health professional with over 30 years of experience in international development working with research institutions, governments, national and international non-governmental organisations, development partners and practitioners in a number of developing countries, including Bangladesh, India and Tanzania where I have worked with and supported national governments in development of national strategic plans, managed and monitored large scale operational research projects and programmes, engaged with stakeholders from the public and private sector, and have taught post-graduate medical and public health students. My experience spans the areas of policy and programme development, management, governance, health systems strengthening, health financing, reproductive and sexual health and rights, gender equality, vulnerability and social protection, social determinants of health, nutrition, urban well being, systems development, monitoring and participatory evaluation, and performance assessment of health systems. My main interests focus on optimizing the interface between people and social systems and increasingly, on the policy environment, towards the development of inclusive systems. I am viewed to be a proactive, reflective, enthusiastic, emphatic and a highly effective leader / advisor / mentor. A critical thinker, skilled in communications, an adaptable and dependable team player who enjoys building and developing relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues from diverse cultures and disciplines.
