I am a Uganda female Environmental and Social Expert with vast experience and technical experience, that matches international development jobs I have a wealth of experience in providing environmental and social compliance support throughout the project management cycle, which I have gained over the 24 years of work with the Ministry of Works and Transport Uganda, the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), the United Nations African Union Mission in Darfur and Kamuli District Local government. For the last nine years which I spent working with UNRA, I have been working with a team of over ten Environmental and Social Experts to support project managers, Contractors and Consultants with mainstreaming environmental and social requirements along the project cycle. In my previous engagement with UNAMID, I played an active role in mainstreaming environmental and social sustainability provisions in the peace process; this I achieved through coordination with the UN country Team, NGOs and local governments to address environmental and social concerns pertinent to the local populace in north Darfur. During the last 24 years of progressive work experience in environmental and social management, I have gained practical grip on sustainability principles in line with the policy and legal provisions of the government of Uganda, as well as those for funders such as World Bank, African Development Bank, EU and JICA. I developed and functionalized the Environmental, Social, Health and Safety (ESHS) management system for the entities I worked with and successfully advocated for the review and incorporation of ESHAS requirements in in the way of doing business. Over the years, I have participated in the preparation of over ten Environmental and Social Impact Assessment studies, and Resettlement Action Plans, which have helped me master the art of identifying, classifying and designing mitigation measures to manage project related risks, engage stakeholders and instituting grievance redress mechanisms throughout the project cycle. My skills in developing and functionalizing Environment, Social, Health and Safety Management Systems (Policies, procedures, reporting templates, screening checklists) is highly developed given the pivotal role I have always played in establishing systems for new ESS functions in all the entities where I have worked previously. I am a professional ESHS expert with a high degree of resilience and zeal to take on responsibility beyond the job requirements, including deployment into hard to serve areas such as Darfur. I am quick at designing monitoring indicators, designing and implementing surveys, and building stakeholder capacity in environmental and social management at different levels. I am very good at building Environment and Social Management Systems from scratch, given the fact that for all agencies I have worked with in my previous experience I have been the pioneer of mainstreaming Environment and Social Safeguards. During the 24 years as an environmental and social management Practice, I have gained skillful attributes in team playing and leading, given the different types of teams I have worked with at local, national and international levels. I have an advanced degree in environment and Natural resources Management, with several short trainings in social management, which when combined with the experience I have gained from handling environmental aspects of different development projects in Uganda and from the Peace process in Darfur; I have the ability to deliver satisfactorily with international development agencies.
