For over 20 years, Mugure has implemented and managed international donor-funded programmes across Africa and Asia, and for 12 of those years, has focused specifically on programmes targeted towards achieving gender equality both within enterprises and within the community. She has thus developed expertise in gender analysis and mainstreaming alongside the promotion of youth and women's economic empowerment and safeguarding women's rights. Mugure also has expertise in the development and implementation of social and behavior change communication strategies as well as formulation and localization of policies aimed at challenging existing social and cultural gender norms that are inhibitive towards the attainment of women's empowerment and gender equality. Currently collaborating with Palladium as the Women's Economic Empowerment Director of USAID's Kenya Investment Mechanism (KIM) and having previously worked with large not-for-profit organizations such as the Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV), the British Council and the African Management Services Company (AMSCO) - a project of the UNDP, Mugure has gained wide exposure which means that she now automatically keeps an eye out for the sustainability of the interventions she is involved in delivering, the transformation they achieve and their long-lasting impact. Mugure is a native English and Kiswahili speaker and has proficient working knowledge of the French language. She demonstrates professional use of IT packages like MS-Office, social media applications and data management software.
