I am an International Affairs and Public Policy Consultant with fifteen years experience including eight while working for the Canadian Foreign Ministry from 2003-2011.
My business development experience is focussed on the agriculture sector and was gained predominantly while on posting for two years at the Canadian Embassy in Peru from 2005-2007 as well as while consulting in the private sector from 2011-2015.
My policy development experience is specialized in the area of trade and environment policy linkages and was gained predominantly while working for the Canadian government on UN negotiations for international climate change (Paris Agreement) and biodiversity (Nagoya Protocol) related agreements from 2007-2011.
I obtained an MA degree focussing on trade and environment policy linkages in 2011 from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University. My research paper was on the implications of coordinating Canada's climate change policy with that of the United States.
From 2011 to the present, I have pursued various entrepreneurial, artistic, volunteer and personal development projects with great commitment, many focussing on sustainability as well as immigrant rights. These experiences have allowed me to further develop my leadership skills and better understand how individual and community-level initiatives relate to higher level (national/ international) policymaking. They have also inspired me to return to policy work and positively contribute these newly acquired skills and perspectives.
I am fully fluent in English, French, Spanish and Farsi (Persian). I am also a dual citizen of Canada and the United States and can legally work in both countries.
