Nina Jessen

United Kingdom

Summary

I recently graduated from the University of Edinburgh in July, 2017 with an MA in Sustainable Development. My chosen discipline through which my degree subject was studied was sociology, meaning that the overall focus of the different courses was on the social dynamics shaping sustainable development. Several honours-level courses (in the final two years) explored the complex ways in which the framing of sustainability issues heavily influence how individuals respond to them. Throughout my time at university, I developed a strong interest in the challenges we are facing when trying to present sustainability issues in ways that can generate effective responses and in turn, efficient action, within and across societies. Beyond this, I also discovered a passion for the growing sector of social entrepreneurship, and chose to base my dissertation (thesis) on its contribution to sustainable development, in the Southeast Asian region specifically. I am currently seeking opportunities in social entrepreneurship and social sustainability sectors across Europe.
